Mary Oppen
Mary Oppen (1908–1990), who first met George Oppen at college in Oregon in the 1920s, traveled with him to France where they set up To Publishers, then later the Objectivist Press in the US, to advance the cause of contemporary American poets. She was a painter, author of an autobiography, Meaning a Life (1978), and a book of verse, Poems and Transpositions (1980).
