Maxine Chernoff
Maxine Chernoff’s recent books include Without (Shearsman, 2012), To Be Read in the Dark (Omnidawn 2012), and The Turning (Apogee, 2008). In addition, her co-translated book, Selected Poems of Friedrich Hoelderlin (Omnidawn 2008), won the 2009 PEN USA Translation Award. She edits the long-running journal, New American Writing, and chairs the Department of Creative Writing at SFSU. In winter 2013 she will be a Visiting International Scholar at the University of Exeter, England, and teach seminars in poetry and British Romanticism. She also has published six books of fiction, two of which were nominated for the Bay Area Books Reviewers Award and one of which was a NYT Notable Book of 1993.
