Clare Louise Harmon

Clare Louise Harmon is the author of The Thingbody (Instar Books, 2015) and has new work forthcoming in Barzakh and Poetry Northwest. Harmon pursued a MM in viola performance at Michigan State University under the tutelage of Yuri Gandelsman and later taught violin, viola, and chamber music at Drake University. She holds an MFA in poetry from the University of New Orleans, and, in the fall of 2020, she will begin a PhD in Comparative Studies in Discourse and Society at the University of Minnesota; her proposed dissertation topic is a study of jazz as a postapocalyptic poetics of the African diaspora. Presently, Harmon lives in New Orleans and is the administrator for the Heritage School of Music, an after-school jazz education program.
