Carlos Soto-Román

Poet and translator. Pharmacist by trade. Master in Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a student at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University, a resident at the MacDowell Colony, and an instructor in the MFA Program of the Americas at Stetson University. He has published several books of poetry and translations, including 11 (UDP, 2023; Santiago’s Municipal Poetry Prize, 2018), Tercera Estrofa (Naranja Publicaciones, 2023), Chile Project [Re-Classified] (GaussPDF, 2013), Alternative Set of Procedures (Corollary Press, 2013 & Rosa Press, 2023), Nature of Objects (Pamenar Press, 2019), Blurb (Commune Editions, 2019), and Holocausto (Zindo & Gafuri, 2021), the first authorized Spanish translation of American poet Charles Reznikoff. He actively participates in sound poetry projects, such as the bands Radio Magallanes and Sonora Guantánamo. His areas of interest include translation as a creative and experimental practice; social and documentary poetry; and the crossovers between poetry, music, installation, and performance. He also believes in interdisciplinary collaboration as an ethical and political gesture.
