Benjamin Morris

A native of Mississippi, Benjamin Morris is the author of Hattiesburg, Mississippi: A History of the Hub City (Arcadia, 2014) as well as two books of poetry, most recently Ecotone (Antenna/Press Street Press, 2017). His work has appeared in The Oxford American, Lithub, and The Southern Review, and received fellowships from the Mississippi Arts Commission and Tulane University. Recently he won the 2021 Words & Music Writing Competition for Poetry, judged by Aimee Nezhukumatathil. He lives in New Orleans, where he serves as one of the coordinators for the New Orleans Poetry Festival. His next book, a full-length collection of poetry entitled The Singing River, is forthcoming from Belle Point Press in 2025.
