Michael Gessner

Michael Gessner, twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize, has been a finalist and semifinalist in various competitions including “Discovery”/The Nation and the Pablo Neruda Award, and has given readings and presentations at state poetry societies and organizations, chapters of the AAUW, nursing facilities, Casa Libre en la Solana, colleges and universities in the United States, the University College Dublin, the American-Irish Historical Society in New York, and Cambridge University. His reviews and articles have been published by Allyn & Bacon, C. V. Mosby, Times-Mirror, The Edgar Allan Poe Review, The English Journal, Gray’s Sporting Journal, and The Kappan. He served as creative writing judge for the National Council Teachers of English and for La Roca, Florence State Penitentiary, and assisted in establishing writing programs for the gifted and talented at the White Mountain Apache Reservation in Ganado, Arizona. Michael lives in Tucson with his wife, son Chris, and family dog, Irish.
