Madhuja Mukherjee
Madhuja Mukherjee teaches film studies at Jadavpur University, India. She is the joint coordinator of the Media Lab. A section of her PhD dissertation has been published by the National Film Archive of India, Pune. Recently she has received the prestigious FTII Golden Jubilee Fellowship for writing histories of regional cinemas. She has published articles on Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan, gender, media, urban cultures, New Indian cinemas, Indian studios, sound practices, film music, and playback systems at Tasveer Ghar, Journal of the Moving Image, and elsewhere. Her maiden feature film Carnival was recently screened at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in the “Bright Future” category. Madhuja has also written screenplays for feature films, illustrated graphic stories, and directed short experimental films.
