Luke Harley is a writer, musician, and educator based in Sydney, Australia. In 1988, as an eight-year-old, his music was chosen for performance as part of Australia’s bicentennial celebrations, but he has always been a poet and essayist as well. He spent much of his twenties traveling, including two years working as a music journalist in London. In 2010 he completed a PhD (Nathanial Mackey: Jazz Poet) at Sydney University, having been a visiting scholar at University of California–Berkeley, 2007–08. Currently, Harley teaches in the English department at Sydney Grammar School, and tours regularly as a jazz trombonist and violist. His work has been published in venues such as Jacket2, Paris Transatlantic, Sydney Studies in English, Classical Music, and Hambone.
