Michael Heller

For Paul Blackburn

Living between the boulders
Of the world

That grind down
The boulder of the self

There falls the fine powder
That comes of grinding
So soft it is to touch

False softness

Roll this rock back
From the damp ground
Through which water seeps
— the rock become
As frangible
As earth —

And the worm bores entrance
Before its time
