FLOWERS: MARJORIE STRIDER
Connecticut:
hills
and shadows
winding
over the
you can’t see
roads
what is
behind
and leaves
many colored.
I move back
to Iowa.
It is flat
there is yellow
sunlight
and un-
interrupted
shadows
over corn
or is it
wheat
fields
where you come from.
Your flowers grow
there
almost
and
out.
AT THE BEACH: STRIDER
The shadow is under the umbrella
the red umbrella
the green chair faces the left hand corner.
The shadow is on the right
the red and green umbrella
the yellow sand
the green chair faces three-quarter.
Under the red umbrella
by the blue sea
the green chair faces full
the shadow is round.
