Sarah Dowling is the author of Security Posture, winner of the Robert Kroetsch Award for Innovative Poetry. Her poetry also appears in I’ll Drown My Book: Conceptual Writing by Women, and in many online and print publications. Sarah will receive her PhD in English from the University of Pennsylvania in May 2012. Her dissertation, “Remote Intimacies: Multilingualism in Contemporary Poetry,” examines the turn to languages other than English in contemporary Anglophone works. Excerpts from this project have appeared in GLQ and Canadian Literature, and other critical work is forthcoming in Signs and the Journal of Medical Humanities. In addition to her creative and academic work, Sarah cocurates the Emergency Reading Series, and with Charles Bernstein was principal organizer of North of Invention: A Festival of Canadian Poetry. Sarah is international editor at Jacket2, and in fall 2012 will begin teaching in the University of Washington Bothell’s MFA in Creative Writing and Poetics.
