John Mateer

John Mateer’s latest books are Ex-White: South African Poems (Klagenfurt: Sisyphus Verlag, 2009), The West: Australian Poems 1989–2009 (Fremantle: Fremantle Press, 2010), and Southern Barbarians (Sydney: Giramondo, 2011). He has read his work at various international festivals, most recently at PEN’s Free the Word in London. Currently he is completing Unbelievers, or “The Moor,” the collection from which his poems in Jacket2 are drawn, which surveys Islamic vestiges in Iberia and along the Indian Ocean.
