Denise Low, second Kansas Poet Laureate, has published twenty books of poetry and essays, including Ghost Stories (The Circle of Minneapolis Best Native American Books of 2010; Kansas Notable Book). She edited Kansas Poems of William Stafford (Woodley, 1990 and 2010). Poetry appears in New Letters, North American Review, Yellow Medicine Review, American Life in Poetry, and Summerset Review. She is a 2008–2013 board member of AWP. She has been visiting professor of creative writing at the University of Richmond and Kansas University. She taught at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence until 2012. Awards are from the Academy of American Poets, The Newberry Library, Lannan Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities, Kansas Arts Council, and Sequoyah National Research Center.
